Workshop
Workshop practice is the backbone of the real industrial environment which helps to develop and enhance relevant technical hand skills required by the technician working in the various engineering industries and workshops. Our workshop intends to impart basic know-how of various hand tools, power tools, machine tools and their use in different sections of manufacturing. Irrespective of branch, the use of workshop practices in day to day industrial as well domestic life helps to dissolve the real-life problems. The workshop experiences would help to build the understanding of the complexity of the industrial job, along with time and skills requirements of the job. Workshop curriculum builds the hands-on experiences which would help to learn manufacturing processes and production technology courses in successive semesters. Workshop practice is also important since only practice can make the man perfect. The students are advised to undergo each skill experience with remembrance, understanding and application with special emphasis on attitude of enquiry to know why and how for the various instructions and practices imparted to them in each shop. Institute has established seven instruction shops to learn and practices wide range of manufacturing processes. A resource in the workshop not only helps to complete engineering syllabus practical but also supports to undertake under graduate projects, creative competitive working projects of social and industrial relevance.
BFCET workshop comprises following shops which are well equipped with latest tools and equipment.
- Machine Shop
- Foundry Shop
- Fitting Shop
- Welding Shop
- Sheet Metal Shop

Solar System
Solar energy is a key to help our society shift away from today’s energy system built on polluting fossil fuels. Solar energy is one of the renewable energy available in abundance which can meet the power crisis in the near future without the use of fossil fuels. Solar energy is an infinite source of energy which is also clean energy. Using solar energy for power generation will reduce the use of fossil fuels and it also produces pollution-free electricity.
Living in a sustainable way and integrating environmental education into the learning process helps our students understand how their decisions and actions affect the environment and enable them to make informed decisions as managers of the future.
In this context, The Institution has taken initiative to promote solar energy concepts in its campus. BFCET made the most of a built environment that is perfect for clean energy projects. The solar panels & solar geysers are installed on rooftops of Academic & Administration Blocks and Hostels. The project has also created educational and economic benefits for the Institution and the surrounding community. The generated power from the solar power station will meet the load demand and then the remaining power is transferred to PSPCL also.
Rainwater Harvesting
Rainwater Harvesting is a simple technique by which rainwater is collected for various future usage. The institution has taken a sustainable initiative towards Rainwater Harvesting including a reservoir with a capacity of 14 Lac liter.
The rainwater from the terrace of the buildings is collected in water bodies and stored which is utilized in different ways and the surplus water is directly used for groundwater recharging. Moreover, the water from the unpaved areas like lawn and the open ground is directly used for groundwater recharging by the mean of recharge pits.
Biogas Plant
Biogas Plant is where biogas is produced by fermenting biomass. The substrate used for the production of this methane-containing gas usually consists of energy crops such as corn, or waste materials such as manure or food waste. The fermentation residue left over from the substrates at the end of the process can be used as fertilizer. Biogas plant of the Institution serves the dual purpose of processing the waste generated from Canteens & Hostel Mess and providing energy for further use.
Biogas is a combustible gaseous fuel that is collected from the microbial degradation of organic matter in anaerobic conditions. Biogas is principally a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide along with other trace gases. Biogas can be collected from landfills, covered lagoons, or enclosed tanks called anaerobic digesters. The biogas typically has 60% methane and 35% carbon dioxide. There is also some percentage of hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, ammonia, moisture etc.
Sewage Treatment Plant
The wastewater which is originated from various sources is properly collected and transported to the Sewage Treatment Plant. The treatment plant is Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) based which is designed to cater to the daily discharge of wastewater. In the treatment plant the water passes through various phases of treatment. The water which obtains after treatment fulfills the norms of pollution control board. After disinfection the water is used for various purposes like irrigation, gardening, toilet flushing etc. As Institution doesn’t have municipal water connection so by recycling waste water and installing the rainwater harvesting system and it reduces the scarcity of water and alleviates pressure on groundwater and other natural sources.
Ambulance Service
Due to heavy rush on roads and people’s negligence of traffic rules, many accidents occur and many precious lives are lost. To help people in case of an accident a free ambulance service is provided at two Hi-Tech points; one at Malout Muktsar junction and other at Goniana Mandi dedicated in the memory of late S. Kuldeep Singh Gill, Director Finance. Its purpose is to transport patients to, from or between places of treatment.
